A Merry Christmas for Smudge and the Moon Bears

Meet Smudge, he is the sweetest baby Moon Bear, rescued from a Bile Farm in China along with 130 other Bears.  I wonder if you have heard of the Moon Bears and the loving work of Animals Asia?  They rescue Bears from the cruel Bile Farms and give them a truly Happy life away from pain and fear.  Christmas especially is a time I like to give to others and it would be wonderful if we can all join together to help give these adorable, innocent Bears a very Happy Christmas.

Now at 8 months old Smudge loves splashing about in baths as you can see in this adorable video.

With support Animals Asia are building a new Sanctuary for all these Bears, but they need a lot of funds.  Some of their generous supporters have offered to match all donations until 31st Dec, so basically doubling anything I and others can send them.

I will be donating 10% of every Art Print or Card Set Sale of my Watercolor Painting "Baby Bear's Friend".  He rather reminds me of Smudge!  Just follow this Etsy link to go straight to these items or email me directly with what you would like:

I have found some time to design a new Bear and can't wait to start cutting out the pattern in this gorgeous cuddly Mohair!  Making a Bear is just the tonic for these cold wintery days!

If you are ordering anything for Christmas here are the last recommended postal dates
from here at Bumpkin Hill:
Australia & New Zealand: December 4th
USA & Canada: December 10th
W. Europe: December 13th

Keep warm & thanks for your support,

Making Christmas Memories

Growing up my Mum and I bought a new Christmas Tree ornament each year.  It was a really happy  tradition, each little decoration held a memory within it, making decorating the tree each year extra special.  Over the years I have been touched to hear other families keeping the same tradition alive, either through making Ornaments from my Patterns or with my hand painted Decorations.

If you love to make your tree decorations or even give them as handmade gifts I have now grouped my Ornament Patterns into one collection here (4 Patterns for less than the price of 3).

In between projects I love to paint a small selection of Wooden Heart Ornaments.  This morning I finished these two friends for you.  If you would love to bring Owl or Robin into your Christmas memories then you can purchase them directly from me.  There is only one of each.  Simply email me at  Owl is 25 euros (4" across) and Robin is 15 euros (2.5" across) plus 1.50 euros postage.  Payment through Paypal.

My paintbrush and I thank you for visiting!
I wonder what your favourite Christmas traditions are?

Woodland Babies

The days are turning chilly and on bright clear days the trees are showing off in all their glorious colours! It is such an inspiring time of year, I love to bring back a few wild flowers and berries to enjoy in a small vase in my little studio.  This way I always have some of the outdoors indoors, being a country loving girl this always makes my heart smile, I wonder if you are the same?

As you can see I have been a busy bee painting away a new range of Woodland Babies.  Owl, Deer & Bear are now available as Archival quality Art Prints and Cards.  You can choose to have Merry Christmas added to the fronts of the cards if you fancy although they work sweetly all year round.

I love printing onto my Linen texture Cards & Cotton Art Paper (just like my original watercolor paper).  Baby Bear can even have a Christmas message added to his Print, super sweet for a baby's first Christmas.

You can find them all available in my Etsy Store, simply go to the Print & Christmas sections at - or feel free to send me an email

Finding Inspiration in Nature

We have had a wonderful Indian Summer in September, warm days with misty mornings and golden light. I do love the warmth of the light at this time of year don't you? I treated myself to these precious pansies, they look like they have been painted. In fact I will be painting them, so inspiring!

With the arrival of October my thoughts have turned to Pumpkins! If you are planning a Halloween party here is a Party Set of Personalised Invites and decorative Tags (spooktacular as Gift Tags, Stickers and Cupcake Toppers).  They are now also available as a Printable set, so no waiting for the post, just print and have fun.

I love the richness of the Berries & Rose Hips I am discovering on my walks. I made this mini pottery dish when I was about 10.  I have always been happiest when I am either outdoors or creating!

Thanks for visiting, I'm working on lots of paintings and ideas for the coming seasons.  If you fancy following along with me I have now joined Instagram -

1 day 12 pics

When I recently heard about the #1day12pics event from the lovely Emma at Photography for Blogs I thought it would be fun to join in.  So yesterday we set off for a looong walk (my feet can confirm that!) and found a beautiful lake and so many Toadstools!  It was very peaceful so I hope you'll enjoy sharing in my day.

Of course before I set off I had to make sure the birds in my garden had enough food to enjoy and said good bye to the little Mouse I have been sketching!

Thanks for joining me

Fly me to the Moon

The days here have been busy with sketching, writing stories for new Picture Book ideas, painting and picking Plums in my garden!

Inspired by the wild Bears I saw recently in the States I've been having fun painting these friends. Now available here as an Art Print

It's been the best year I have ever had for Plums, there are so many and far sweeter.
They are wonderful in crumble!  Have you had much fruit this year?
Thanks for popping by,
